30.May.12 Japan expedition, coronograph #2 - Kitasubaru Nayoro Astronomical Observatory, Nayoro city, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. L. to r. : Fumitake Watanabe of Nayoro Astronomical Observatory holds the instrument's end with the camera attached.
30.May.12 Japan expedition, coronograph #2 - Kitasubaru Nayoro Astronomical Observatory, Nayoro city, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. The instrument mounted piggyback on the 40-cm equatorial telescope. Note the finderscope with a solar protection film enclosed in place of the objective lens cover, taped to the finder's tube. A cross-hair finder aligned with E-W direction on the Sun, combined with observing the Sun image drift in the field when the mount tracking is turned off, can prove helpful in locating the position angle before ingress and orienting the field of the camera, provided the mount is properly aligned.
29.May.12 Japan expedition, coronograph #2 - Kitasubaru Nayoro Astronomical Observatory, Nayoro city, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. Alternate sites to Nayoro Astronomical Observatory in Hokkaido Island. Handwritten map by Tetsuya Fukuhara in Hokkaido University Gradual School of Sciences building in Sapporo.
29.May.12 Japan expedition, coronograph #2 - Kitasubaru Nayoro Astronomical Observatory, Nayoro city, Hokkaido Prefecture. The instrument on Hokkaido University's portable mount in Chikako Haase's office in Hokkaido University Gradual School of Sciences building in Sapporo. L. to r. : Yaiko Ichikawa, Takahashi Yasuto, Masataka Imai, Nicolas Thouvenin.
